Tulip Stitch Dish Cloth

I have missed doing something here for a few days with family and work and
getting prepared to go to the Philippines!
So I might miss a few days while we're out on a holiday for a month but will definitely
catch up with lots of photos!

Anyway, I found this dish cloth and I thought it was adorable.
For a quick gift, for a lapghan or proper afghan.
In a few colors or a colorful one, your choice.

Jennifer of Two Butterflies found this free pattern from Toni from Foothills.

I think I'll be making a few of these while I'm out there... in the sands...
Very happy thoughts..
See you all soon!

Updates and a Free Whispers Crochet Jacket Pattern

Snow has stopped falling and the schools were reopened today! Hurray!
I'm halfway my motif top.
Whoop!

As you all know, I'm not very fluent with knitting and I found this bargain and funky badger novelty hat!
Ethan absolutely loves it

and I had to put it on for size ;)

Now, with the gloomy weather outside, my beautiful tulips are coming out.

They are slowly but surely on their way out.
There's another dozen to say hi!

Browsing through the enormous free pattern out there, I found this adorable jacket by Drops Design.

I think it looks very delicate and girly and country-ish chic..
But until I have finished with my current wip's, I'm restraining myself.

Oh, and hopefully, we'll have a new addition to our family soon!
Watch this space! ;)

Bartlett Car Coat Free Pattern

Baby cardigan pattern by Robyn Chachula which has a free pattern which you can find here. Petite Purls has very cute free patterns contributed by different people who crochets and knits.
Isn't this cardigan adorable? And I'm impartial to purple so this caught my eye.

I hope you enjoy making your cardigan and wrapping your baby warm with it!

Crystal SLiding Knot Bracelet, Shoe Clip Upcycle and More Snow!

It has snowed all night and all morning. Kids were taken to school because no announcement of school closure was made but now, the school is closing. At least an hour and a half later than the high school ones.
Our street looks scary to drive on.
But I hear the main roads are okay so you guys driving out there, be careful!

Brynn went out to pick the children up bringing a shovel with him.
And yes that's our backyard.

So while I watch the flurries fall, I made this Crystal Sliding Knot. It literally took less than 5 minutes. You can find a Sliding Knot Tutorial from here. It's full of pictures to help you make it out.
I just used a simple crystal bead with loops on both ends.

I think I left the end bits to long so when it was time to burn it off to keep it from fraying, it turned out like that! Oh well, I think for a first time, I can't be too hard on myself ;-)

And because the bracelet didn't take that long, I thought I'd fix the embellished bow that used to be attached to my shoes but has decided to fall off.

To fix it, I stitched a pair of shoe clips at the back of the bow.
I can then use it to embellish another shoe if and when I want to!
Yey!

It was originally placed on the middle of the toes but for a change, you can put it on the side or even near the heel part.

I like reusing stuff specially ones that are as cute as these. Thinking back, they were the reason I bought the shoes. They are very pretty.

What are you doing today?
Take care and keep warm!

Girly Headbands. Crochet Flowers & Simple Bow!

It has started to snow again here! Ugh!
And apparently it's going to be all night and all day tomorrow too with ICE as a bonus.
Will I get scared to drive to school?
Yes.
Will I still drive if I need to?
Yes.
Do the kids need to go to school when it's open?
Yes.
Hmmmmm...

Anyway, Ashley has a party over the weekend ans along with some Moshi Monsters that these kids love, I thought it'll be nice to gift them with something made with love. They always compliment Ashley every time she's wearing one of my creations.
This one is one of her favorites and she has used it so much, the strap used to be cream, you can guess what shade it is now. ;-)

I used a sequin button and an orange crystal button. I like fancy buttons.
It definitely makes it look more special.

So today I made this:

Even though Ashley is nearly 5'4 and she's only 10, I had to make her try it on for size.
She says it's a bit tight on her so hopefully it'll just be perfect for the birthday girl.

Ethan is not camera shy at all. He wants to feel a bit less left out so there. That's the only reason why he's in the picture. I know you won't mind.

A bit of a close-up of the bow.

Right, if anyone out there wants me to tell them how to make it or help on how to, give us a shout.
Or if you want me to make one for you too, I'll be more than happy to!

I hope you're all warm and cozy where you are!

Red Heart Yarn Ebook Free Patterns

Today I have more time to take it easy.
I found this eBook and it's a nice collection of free patterns for knitting and crochet. I know a few people who does both but sadly, I'm not very good with knitting! Ashley does knit and I crochet.
I think this is handy when you can do both.
Here's a few of the free patterns on the ebook:

You can find and download the book here.
Enjoy!

52 Weeks of Project!

I have been busy lately with house chores and and with the kids back in school then snow!
How about that?
Today I have finished ironing for the whole day and boy, am I tired!
Yesterday was more washing and cleaning. Phew... the story of my life..

Anyway, I have a pot of tulip bulbs planted around 3 months ago and left inside the garage. I have since then taken it in inside after about 8 weeks of being outside. The bulbs I have planted outside including the daffodils have sprouted before it snowed! I guess they've been tricked into thinking that winter was done and over with!
so back to my pots of tulips, this is what they look like:

I think something really pretty is trying to come out :)
There's about a dozen of bulbs in that pot and I cannot wait.
I will obviously be showing you when they do come out and say hi!

So, back to the title of this post.
Browsing Pinterest I found this blog where it has literally 52 projects!
One a week isn't too bad and you don't obviously have to do all of them if you don't want to. Pick your fave and ideas for a cute project is never a bad thing in my books.
These are a few of my favorites:

You can find these pretty projects here.
I hope you find some that'll inspire you ;)

Busy Saturday morning routines

The kids do their swimming lessons and Taekwondo training on Saturday mornings.
Early start and everybody is zonked out by lunch time.

Kids have achieved their yellow tag and Ashley has received extra recognition with a trophy by being the best in all the grading for the day! Yay! We are so proud and happy that all their efforts has come through and are recognized.

Tulip has fully bloomed!
It's so pretty I can't wait for the others to come out!

Somebody loves the new pillow.

And I have started a new wip!
I couldn't help it... :)

It's very dainty on a 2mm hook and a 3ply yarn.

 It grows quickly too!
I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with the band though. I don't knit but maybe can do a basic knit and purl. Will still see when I get to it what I'd do or maybe do a crochet version of the band that's supposed to be knitted.

How's you're Saturday mornings?
